Along with this new schedule (including the addition of a full week Transgender Teen Camp!), Camp Talahi will be introducing a new tiered pricing system.

What is Tiered Pricing?

Tiered pricing is a system that allows for several different price points (tiers) for each camp. The idea behind a tiered system is to recognize that different families in the camp community have different financial means, and to let families pay what they feel they are able to. Families who can afford to support the camp community and pay the highest tier pricing, make it possible for Camp to offer a lower rate for those families who can’t afford rising prices in a tough economy. Summer camps around the country have been moving to these models for about the past 10 years, and have gotten positive feedback from their communities.  The tiers for this Summer’s week long sessions are given below:

Tier 1: $415
Tier 2: $450
Tier 3: $485

Why Tiered Pricing?

The ultimate goal is to keep camp accessible for everyone who wants to come. This is the same as it has always been at Camp Talahi. If you want to be at camp, we want you to be at camp, regardless of finances. We remain steadfast in our commitment to working with families to make this a reality. Camp Talahi exists to serve the community, to create an safe environment where we can come together, relax, and grow (and make some pretty spectacular memories!)

The reality of the situation, however, is that camp is becoming more expensive to run, and thus in order to keep up with these increasing costs, we are forced to raise prices. We want to be transparent with the community we serve on what is going on with this shift to tiered pricing. We realize, as you may have as well, that the price of camp has increased across the board, even at the lowest pricing tier. However, what the tiered pricing system allows us to do is offer a price similar to last years price (Tier 1), particularly for those families who may not be able to afford our price if we raised prices to a single flat rate.

What Tiered Pricing Isn’t

Tiered pricing does not replace camper scholarships (camperships), which will still be available this year. We recognize that lowest pricing tier this year may still be too much for many families, and are always happy to help these campers attend camp at a reduced rate, just as we have in the past. For more information on camperships, visit this page. In the same vein, sibling/second registration discounts are also still around this year! For every sibling, or time after the first that child signs up for camp, 50$ is taken off the camper’s registration fees. We hope that between these initiatives, new and old, that we will be able to see you under the oaks this year!

How does it work?

Quite simply! When you register for camp this year, you will be given the option to select a price tier before checkout. Simply select the option that best matches your financial means, and continue with the checkout process as usual. No need to apply for lower pricing tiers, no explanations necessary. The tier you select is completely confidential, and does not alter your child’s experience at camp in the slightest.

If you have any further questions on this new pricing system, the camp schedule, or really anything else (preferably camp related!) feel free to contact us through facebook, email, telephone, or right here through the website! We hope you can join us for another amazing summer at Camp Talahi!
